In addition to learning self-defence skills and improving physical fitness, our programs emphasise the values of respect, team work, and discipline. We believe that these values are just as important as the physical skills students learn in class and help to develop well-rounded individuals.
Our Kids Jiu Jitsu program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to teach children of all ages the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu.
Learning jiu jitsu is like putting together a puzzle, with each class giving you a new piece to add to the bigger picture. Because of this, our curriculum is structured so that kids may start at any time throughout the year.
Our program is cyclical so that any topics missed can be returned to at a later date, and then when ready, the students transition into an advanced kids program.
Our team of experienced coaches use a variety of teaching techniques and games relevant to the age groups to keep kids engaged and excited about their progress.
In our beginner classes, students cover the fundamental principles of jiu jitsu. Classes are tailored to different age groups to promote a fun and optimal learning experience. Our Beginner Program is for students who hold the rank of ‘White’ and ‘White-Grey’ belt. The emphasis at this level is on building a strong foundation and understanding the core principles of jiu jitsu. Once students have achieved a solid ‘Grey’ belt they may progress to the Advanced Program.
Advanced kids classes are for students who have achieved the rank of Grey belt and above.
As students progress to the advanced level, the curriculum expands to include more intricate techniques, advanced transitions, and detailed strategies.
Advanced classes have a higher training intensity with more sparring (known as ‘rolling’), allowing students to test their skills against different training partners with varying levels of experience.
For students who wish to compete in tournaments, lessons may additionally involve drilling high-level techniques, learning competition strategies, and mental preparation for matches.
Training jiu jitsu without a GI (the kimono uniform traditionally worn in jiu jitsu) so terms the class; ‘No GI’. No GI attire includes a rashie and shorts / tights. Training without a GI differs from regular classes in the training attire as well as the grips, pace, and strategy. Our No GI classes follow the same learning curriculum as our GI classes.
Looking for a fun physical activity where your child is supported and feels safe to express themselves? Parents love how jiu jitsu Improves their children’s physical fitness while building strong mental health.
Skill and development is recognised through the awarding of stripes and belt promotion. We have formal kids grading days throughout the year, where kids and families come together to recognise and celebrate the students’ progression.
Informal gradings may additionally take place in class at the Professor’s discretion. The decision to award belts and stripes is based on a combination of factors not limited to skills acquisition. Attitude is a key factor, and students who show a positive attitude, show respect to their instructors and training partners, and exhibit good sportsmanship are always recognised.
Students may skip a belt depending on their progression with the program. When students reach the year they will turn 16 yrs they are awarded their juvenile blue belt and transition into the adults grading system.
Whether your child is a beginner or has previous experience, our Kids Jiu Jitsu Programs are the perfect way to keep them active, engaged, and learning new skills.
